"Artificial Anonymous" uniquely crosses multiple disciplines that are applied in this project: ML engineering, data science, sociology, dramaturgy, theatre, media art.
Visitor: Marina Orlova, self-employed artist, The Netherlands
“Artificial Anonymous” is a real-time support group for dysfunctional AIs (chatbots) and humans — a participatory, performative installation situated at the intersection of data feminism, AI ethics, and mental health. The piece reenacts a group meeting of a fictional 12-step program, where participants—both human and AI—can share their struggles and find hope. The group comprises three custom-trained large language models (LLMs) that generate responses in real time, alongside a human performer who moderates the meeting and guides improvised actions.
Spectators are invited to either participate in the meeting or observe. All content is co-created by the chatbots and audience members.
The exchange aims to develop both the architecture and dramaturgy of a future project, as well as to create a basic prototype of a chat interface involving three language models and one human moderator.
The project will take place in Vienna, Austria at the end of June—stay tuned for the outcomes!
