Creative Spark LTD x Coláiste Chú Chulainn, Ireland
This innovative 12-week upcycling project aimed to immerse Transition Year students in the world of sustainable fashion, providing them with hands-on experience in transforming second-hand clothing into a cohesive, professionally designed collection. Students explored the environmental impact of the fashion industry, developed practical skills in upcycling, and collaborate to create a unique collection that reflects their creativity and commitment to sustainability.
With an allocated project budget, the students bought garments from a local charity shop to then transferring them into upcycled fashion pieces, using screen printing, laser cutting, natural dying, tailoring technics and digital embroidery. The Irish Fashion designer Megan McGuigan (Seeking Judy) supported the students kick-starting their creative process.
The final pieces first presented in the school, and afterwards showcased in Creative Spark’s downtown hub where students had the opportunity to sell their items as part of a pop-up market.
