studio WOUW x Basisschool - Victor Carpentier Ghent, Belgium
Studio WOUW’s Learning Lab Future of Fashion: Upcycling & Natural Dyeing, invites 5th and 6th-grade students from the primary schools in the multicultural area Muide-Meulestede in Ghent to explore the magic and surprising beauty of plant-based dyeing and sustainable fashion.
Through hands-on workshops, students will transform discarded textiles using plant-based dyes, learn about fashion careers, and understand the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion. A visit to the Industriemuseum and discussions with industry professionals will provide insight into the rich history and modern possibilities of textiles.
This co-creative experience results in a school-wide exhibition and a co-created patchwork flag, empowering students to reimagine fashion with creativity, sustainability, and purpose.
studio WOUW is a creative organisation that specialises in plant-based dyeing, with a primary focus on bringing new life to existing textiles. They work with vintage garments, revitalising them through natural dyeing techniques, as well as creating new designs from upcycled fabrics. Our approach combines the ancient craft of natural dyeing with contemporary design methods, blending cultural heritage with modern sustainability practices. |
