Host: Kitti Baracsi, Criar Cidade Cooperative, Portugal
Visitor: Giovanni di Sera, StreetUniverCity Berlin, Germany
Urban researcher, facilitator, and curator Kitti Baracsi from
Criar Cidade (Portugal) and Art & Music educator Giovanni Di Sera from
StreetUniverCity Berlin (Germany) will collaborate on the development of a mobile radio station co-created with young people. This cross-disciplinary initiative brings together Giovanni Di Sera’s technical and educational experience in working with music and radio with young people, and Kitti Baracsi’s expertise in urban transformations and conflicts through collaborative research and public space interventions with children and youth.
Inspired by StreetUniverCity’s Street Radio Blaster in Berlin and drawing from the
periferias dibujadas initiative, this project merges urban research, community engagement, and music education. It centers the voices of young people to address conflicts and inequalities in their urban environments, creating new forms of participation and expression.
This collaboration introduces a new line of intervention for both Kitti Baracsi and Criar Cidade, expanding their practice by incorporating the process and skills of building a mobile radio station. Criar Cidade will contribute its experience at the intersection of research, community work, and culture, enriching the collective exploration of urban change.
The project will be developed in collaboration with several local partners, including AMPAC Olaias, a community association in the Portugal Novo neighborhood, and VIRA Lab, a wood upcycling project.
The project will take place in Lisbon in July—stay tuned for the outcomes!
