The Whispering Grove is
an immersive artistic space designed to reconnect elderly individuals with nature through creativity, contemplation, and community. Developed through a collaboration between the socially engaged organisation
People Behind (Greece) and artist and urban designer Mateja Stanislava Rot (Slovenia), the project merges artistic vision with social engagement to create a space of quiet and meaningful connection.
Set in a peaceful green setting, the grove features organic installations enhanced by subtle AI interactions that support emotional well-being. At the heart of the experience are the Whisper Stones—naturalistic sculptures that respond to touch with poetry, soundscapes, or gentle prompts, encouraging reflection and artistic engagement. Participants are invited to share personal thoughts or audio messages, which gradually become part of the evolving installation.
By fostering calm interaction and creative participation, The Whispering Grove nurtures presence, inspires personal expression, and creates shared moments in a space shaped by nature and collective memory.
The project will take place in the National Garden in Athens in September —stay tuned for the outcomes!
