This collection brings together five case studies , highlighting innovative approaches to transformation across Europe’s cultural and creative sectors. The case studies explore how cultural organisations, networks, funding bodies and European initiatives are responding to some of the key challenges shaping the sector today — from digital transformation and AI skills to green production, sustainable storytelling, participatory cultural spaces and new models of civic engagement.

The collection features Europeana Academy, exploring digital skills and open learning for the cultural heritage sector; MOIN Film Fund, examining the green transformation of film production and storytelling; Third Places, highlighting participatory cultural development in rural communities; IN SITU’s (Un)Common Spaces, exploring cultural rights, representation and democratic practices in public space; and Budweis 2028’s Perma(Culture) approach, demonstrating how sustainability can become a long-term cultural and community strategy.

Together, these examples offer practical insights and inspiration for cultural and creative professionals, organisations and policymakers looking to develop more resilient, sustainable, inclusive and innovative practices.
