WhyWeCraft® x Școala Primară nr. 1 Pocola, Romania
Hosted in a rural community in Țara Beiușului, Bihor county, Romania, the LLab WhyWeCraft Stupină de Sustenabilitate Culturală is an immersive learning experience for local children and youth focusing on the value of local biocultural diversity for sustainable fashion & textiles.
Guided by the project facilitators, students explored traditional craft practices passed down through generations, and, with the help of intellectual property know-how, discovered their relevance for contemporary fashion and textile production.
The creative journey began with connecting to the local environment and using its natural resources mindfully, through eco-friendly tools and processes. Biomimicking a honeybee colony, students collaborated with local craftspeople to create culturally sustainable products, learning to harness the power of collective creativity.
The final event consisted of an interactive exhibition hosted in the community cultural center - Căminul Cultural in April 2025. The exhibition complemented by a collection of postcards showcasing the collective creative process and outcomes and a short visual documentary featuring all the project participants. The screening of the visual documentary was done at a subsequent date part of the dissemination campaign of the results of the project and the stimulus for its replication in other schools in the neighbouring villages and communes in Țara Beiușului.
The visual documentary, the collection of project postcards and relevant pictures from the project published on https://whywecraft.eu/ and Creative FLIP website.
